Every year Webster’s Dictionary adds to their vast word pile, but how many phrases, terms and features should we consider retiring from our vocabulary… and powersport products? I’m sure that I would date myself with these examples but 8 tracks, shag carpeting in your van, and the road-holding weight of a Buick are a few things that are not coming back!

The motorcycle, ATV and snowmobile industries have not been sleeping! We are seeing some of the most innovative design concepts that have ever been imagined. If it’s been a few years since you scoped out the latest in outdoor/ backwoods / cross-country travel, you owe it to yourself to get into a dealership and see what the major powersport manufacturers have been up to.

Here at Zacho Sports Center, we’ll get you up to speed. The latest feature has got to be electronic power steering (EPS), yes power steering for your ATV! And it’s also standard equipment on many Yamaha Snowmobiles exclusively. The benefit to electronic power steering is that it reduces the amount of steering input needed to turn the handlebars – 50% to be exact. With sophisticated technology, the engineers have massaged the CPU boxes to understand that the faster I go the less electronic power steering I need and the more of a steering damper I can use. So when I need to dodge around trees at 2 MPH I receive the most amount of electronic power steering available. Then as I trail ride and hit a tree root or washout at speeds of 20 MPH the handlebars won’t be jerked out of my hands. This leads to the end result of a 150 mile trail ride with less wear and tear on my machine, and not having to take ibuprofen the next day because my shoulders hurt from trail riding.

When you get out looking at new ATV’s you will be noticing that most machines are coming with ALL the “bells and whistles.” Even though you’re spending more, you are not getting less… you’re getting much more! For example when you take the latest offering from Yamaha Grizzly 700 EPS, the standard equipment reads like a feature list from your truck:

• Electronic power steering
• The a powerful 686cc liquid-cooled 4-valve engine
• Yamaha fuel injection good from sea-level to 15,000 ft. altitude
• A double wishbone long travel front and rear gas shocked suspension that’s 5-way adjustable for ride comfort and superior precise steering
• Drive selections of 2WD rear, 4WD limited slip front, 4WD locked front differential
• HI/LOW range ultramatic transmission
• Huge hydraulic disc brakes on all 4 wheels
• All with a wet weight full of gas of only 648 lbs., and there is more…

Things are really getting better as smoother, softer, faster, quieter, easier, are terms we are using for describing our wants and needs as the “ables” we’re getting are dependable, reliable, durable and feasible too!

On September 4 we posted that we were having a Powersports Swap Meet. A lot of you were wondering if we could add marine! So we listened and now WE ARE INCLUDING MARINE IN THE SWAP MEET on Saturday, September 29, 2012. Here are ALL the details!

Do you want to sell your ATV, UTV, motorcycle, scooter, snowmobile, pontoon or boat? Here is your chance! Zacho Sports Center is having a Swap Meet.  Here are all the details:

What: Sell your ATV, UTV, motorcycle, scooter, snowmobile, pontoon or boat.

When: Saturday, September 29, 2012 from 9:00 AM until 4:00 PM. Units can be dropped off Thursday, September 27 or Friday, September 28.

Where: In a 40’ X 100’ tent located in the Zacho Sports Center’s parking lot.

How: Zacho Sports Center will proved the tent and advertise this Swap Meet with print, radio, and social media promotions. The seller is required to be on sight during the event.

There is a $50 display fee which will be fully reimbursed with a $50 in-store credit.
